How do i schedule a tattoo?

The best way to schedule an appointment or consult is to send an email to court@ravingartist.com or submit a form through this website. Court has scheduling software so once you reach out with your tattoo idea, she will send you a link to look at her calendar and book at your convenience. She will recommend a time slot based on the size, style, and references provided.

What is your hourly rate?

Court’s rate is $150/hr. She has a $100 minimum for tiny pieces.

What is your Deposit policy? IS it refundable?

A deposit is how you secure a date for your appointment. It is also necessary for a custom drawing to be done prior to the appointment. The deposit varies depending on the size of the tattoo and starts at $50 for a tiny tattoo. Deposits are non-refundable. They do come off the cost of the tattoo. If it’s a multiple session piece you can choose to use and put down a new deposit each session to spread out the cost or wait to use the deposit until the last session and apply it to the time at the end.

How do i prepare for my tattoo?

Getting a tattoo isn’t the most comfortable thing, but you will be the most comfortable during it if you are well rested, hydrated, and have had plenty to eat. Feel free to bring water and snacks if you’d like. Court will also have those stocked if you’d like to partake in weird treats and bottled water. Candy is always on hand.

The happier your body is the happier you will be while getting poked.

Getting tattooed hungover is about as recommended as training for a marathon the night after a bender -No fun! It’s also a good idea to have limited caffeine the day of, as it could cause dehydration or high blood pressure. If pain reliever is needed, acetaminophen is recommended over ibuprofen(NSAIDs) or aspirin since they have blood thinning agents.

Shower before the appointment and wear clean comfortable clothes that easily expose the area being tattooed. Try not to wear anything that you would be devastated getting ink on. Court will disinfect and shave the area of the tattoo.

Feel free to bring a blanket if you get cold easily, or towel if you sweat a lot, or anything else that would make you more comfortable during the appointment. There is heat available on the bed and air conditioning during the Summer. Stress balls are available to squeeze during the appointment or you can bring a supportive friend to hold your hand instead.

When will i see the drawing of my tattoo?

The drawing will be shown on the day of the tattoo appointment. Court will take all the time needed to make any changes beforehand. If you would really prefer to see the drawing before the day of, Court is happy to schedule a time with you to come by the studio in person to look over it and talk about it together. Exceptions can be made for people traveling in from out of town.

how do i take care of my tattoo after the appointment?

Remove the bandage 2-4 hours after leaving the studio.

Wash hands thoroughly with unscented liquid antibacterial soap in warm water. Court recommends Dial Gold or Dr. Bonners unscented soap.

Gently wash the tattoo and surrounding area with clean hands and antibacterial soap.

Pat dry with a paper towel or fresh clean towel as towels can carry bacteria.

Wash again the next morning and thoroughly before applying the Derma Shield 24 hours after. Make sure the tattoo is very clean and dry before applying the medical grade sticker.

The Derma Shield can stay on for up to one week if nothing is getting under the sticker.

The sticker will fill up with blood and plasma and its normal and ok as long as nothing is seeping out or getting in. If the sticker is peeling or anything is exposed, remove it. Otherwise remove it after a full week of it on.

Once the Derma Shield is removed repeat washing hands and tattoo every morning and night until healed.

Gently washing the tattoo a 3rd or 4th time during the day is okay. Cleanliness is key.

Wear clean clothes and have clean sheets that are free of pet dander.

Apply small amounts of fragrance free lotion after washing. Court recommends fragrance free Lubriderm, but any brand is fine as long as it says unscented.

Be careful not to over moisturize the tattoo. Court does not recommend Aquaphor.

Apply thin layers that absorb into the skin.

When the tattoo begins to itch, smack it, don’t scratch it. No picking allowed, as it may cause discoloration of the ink.

If you are going to be in the sun, cover the tattoo with light clothing or a bandana, or wear unscented baby sunblock.

Don’t swim in pools (chlorine), rivers or lakes (bacteria), or submerge in a bath (scabbing) for at least 2 weeks.

Are touch ups free?

They are! Within a year. That said, Court wants your tattoo to look best for you.

If you think it needs to be touched up after the two weeks of healing contact Court.
